How to make a photo hanger – 5 unique versions – Which type are you?

A photo wall mobile or a wall-mounted photo is a stylish interior decoration item. You can create your own unique variant that matches your home décor and your personality. It’s easy to do, too! Below we list five different versions of wall mobiles with photos. Which is your favourite?

1. For the perfectionist with a sense of form and design!

This photo wall mobile has a stylish and streamlined design. It consists of 12 equal sized square photo prints in colour, printed on classy matte photo paper. Each string ends with a neutral wooden ball and parallel triangles in thick paper.

You need:

  • A stick or branch
  • A thread reel with a coarse thread of any colour
  • Three wooden balls
  • Nine square pictures (in this example we used a matte finish with a white border)
  • Thicker patterned paper
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors

Check out our YouTube movie One minute craft to find out exactly how to do it!

2. Bohemian home – a wall mobile with extra everything!

If the first mobile is characterized by control and balance, this is the exact opposite. With this one, it is as if fate has been allowed to decide what is placed on the various cords and where! Here, black and white photo prints are combined with colour prints, square prints are combined with panoramic prints, and family photos are combined with quotes. The cords are different lengths, and the images are attached at different distances.

This is a photo wall mobile for those who dare to let go of the controls and let the pictures do the talking. For extra feel and stylish framing, a sprig of ivy is attached to the stick. This is made with the same principles as the first mobile in the movie One minute craft.

3. A wall mobile with photos for the playful

In this photo wall mobile, the ones we love are given pride of place, comfortably balanced on each stick. A fun detail for the hallway or the kids’ room.

How to make:

Take pictures of the family while sitting on a bench. Make sure they sit tightly together. Then develop these in 10X15 format. Cut out the people and use your glue gun to attach the images to the stick. Then follow the instructions in One minute craft video.

4. For those who want to keep track of the days and at the same time have a beautiful wall!

This wall mobile is a clear favourite in smartphoto’s office! Here we have used our pictures to make a photo calendar using wooden blocks. There are 12 pictures (one for each month), where the date, month, and year are shown in a stylish font under each picture. The images are printed on a thicker 300 gram paper instead of photo paper, which gives a lovely feel to the images.

We have attached a white decorative stone to the end of each string to make them hang straight.

5. A photo wall mobile for the retro black-and-white lover!

Create a really stylish wall mobile by developing your favourite photos as black and white prints. The advantage of choosing black and white is that you don’t have to worry whether the colour palates of the different images match. Easy!

In this example, we chose 10 × 15 cm portrait photos. We also used a matte photo finish to avoid glare and added a white border on each image to create a frame. You can do all this directly in the smartphoto editor!
